Typeform vs Jotform: which form tool fits your business?

Short answer: Jotform for most small businesses, because it does more for the money, especially intake forms, order forms and payments. Typeform when the form is the first impression for a new lead and you want it to feel like a conversation.

And before either, check whether a tool you already pay for has forms built in. Hope this helps.

The short version

Typeform is about how the form feels. Jotform is about what the form can do.

Typeform: forms that feel like a conversation

One question at a time, full screen, nicely designed out of the box.

Typeform shows one question at a time, so a 10-question form feels shorter than it is. It looks great on a phone without you doing anything.

Free: enough to try it.

Basic, $28 a month billed yearly ($39 monthly).

Plus, $56 a month billed yearly ($79 monthly).

Business, $91 a month billed yearly ($129 monthly).

Where Typeform shines
  • It looks good with zero design work. Add your logo and colors and it feels on brand.
  • Great on phones. One question per screen is made for thumbs.
  • Quizzes and surveys. Send people down different paths based on their answers.
Where it gets annoying
  • Response limits. Lower plans cap responses, and a busy lead form can blow through them.
  • Not built for long paperwork. A 40-field intake form one question at a time gets old.
  • You pay for the polish. Plan for plan, it costs more than Jotform.

Jotform: the workhorse

Not as pretty. Does a lot more.

Jotform is a drag-and-drop form builder with a huge template library, a lot of integrations and solid payment options. If you have a form-shaped problem, Jotform can probably do it.

Free: usable for light, real use.

Bronze, $34 a month billed yearly ($39 monthly).

Silver, $39 a month billed yearly ($49 monthly).

Gold, $99 a month billed yearly ($129 monthly).

One catch: Bronze, Silver and Gold are each for a single user. Multiple users is an Enterprise feature.

Where Jotform shines
  • Payments. Connects to lots of payment processors, so deposits and order forms are easy.
  • Long intake forms. New-client paperwork, waivers, registrations. The classic layout handles it fine.
  • Templates for nearly everything. Start from something close and edit.
Where it gets annoying
  • Single-user plans. This is exactly what pushes teams into sharing one login, which I'd avoid.
  • The builder is busy. More options means more clicking around.
  • Looks like a form. It can look great, but it takes effort.

Which one should you pick?

Before you pay for Typeform or Jotform, check these in order.

1. Learn what you already have

Your website builder, CRM, booking tool or email tool almost certainly has forms. If one of those covers you, the answers already land where your team works, and you skip a subscription.

2. Pick one if it really fits
  • Jotform for intake, orders, registrations and anything with payments.
  • Typeform for a lead form, quiz or survey where the experience is part of the pitch.
3. Build what's missing

If the form is fine but the answers end up in a spreadsheet someone retypes into another system, the form isn't the problem. The handoff is. That's usually a small build that sends each answer straight to where it belongs.

Is Typeform or Jotform better for a small business?

For most small businesses, Jotform. It does more for the money: payments, detailed intake forms, lots of templates and lots of integrations. Typeform is the better pick when the form is the first thing a new lead sees and you want it to feel like a conversation instead of paperwork.

How much do Typeform and Jotform cost?

Both have a free plan. Typeform paid plans are $28, $56 or $91 a month billed yearly ($39, $79 or $129 monthly). Jotform paid plans are $34, $39 or $99 a month billed yearly ($39, $49 or $129 monthly). Prices checked October 2026.

Can I take payments through a form?

Yes, both can. Jotform connects to more payment processors, which matters if you already run payments through something like Square or PayPal. Check which plan includes payments on each before you build a deposit or order form around it.

Can my whole team share one account?

On Jotform, the Bronze, Silver and Gold plans are for a single user, and multiple users are an Enterprise feature. Teams often get around that by sharing one login. I'd avoid that, because it's a security risk and nobody can tell who changed what. Check how many users each plan includes before you pick.

Do I need a separate form tool at all?

Maybe not. Your website builder, CRM or booking tool probably has forms built in. If those cover what you need, a separate form tool is one more subscription and one more place for leads to get lost.

When you don't need me

If the answers already land where your team works, there's nothing to fix. Skip the call if this is you.

You need one contact form. Use the one built into your website. Done.

Your form already sends answers where they need to go. Don't switch just because the other one looks nicer.

You're testing an idea. Both free plans are fine for that. Learn what you need before you pay.

What changed

  • October 2026: rewritten top to bottom. Prices updated from both vendor pages (Typeform Basic is now $28 billed yearly, not $25). Removed response-cap and feature-by-plan claims that didn't match the vendor pages, HIPAA plan details I couldn't confirm, and unsourced completion-rate claims. Added Jotform's single-user plan limit.
  • April 2026: first published.
